Cheap and efficient ways to ship to Canada? (Tired of not being an American, I am exactly the same)?

Hi, I have been needing various workout items, such as a pull-up bar, dumbbells, heart rate monitor, protein powder and creatine powder to help me work out, and so I went on amazon.com to gather these things and buy them. It took me several hours to do this. The final bill came to $261.45 but half of the things couldn't ship to Canada, so for the things that were left over the final bill came to $111.65. However, after proceeding to checkout counter I found out that the shipping was $95! That's essentially double the price for everything I wanted to buy! This is an exorbutant amount of money just for shipping 4 things to me, and I would never pay it. Does anyone know any BETTER alternatives for shipping to Canada, that doesn't include any international fees or other things, i.e. excuses not to ship to me because of an imaginary line that exists 25 miles south of where I live?
