How does ATP give us energy?

Energy is relased when the bonds break. The ATP is one 'unit' of energy. We DO use the energy that comes from it. A glucose molecule is broken down by four steps ( i wont get into it) but the end result is 36 ATP's. We need roughly 3 billion ATP's per min just to function. We constantly form ATP out of glucose ( so technically its breaking bonds). Thats how we get energy.
