Can i take creatine only when i feel i need it?

like if i want to work out once a week...can i only ingest creatin before and after my workout??? (I know it probably would not have the maximum effect, i just wanna know if it would have any effect at all....because the complete Creatine routine - Loading phases, maintaining phase....and all that is a bit tedious ...no doubt,) Thanks in anticipation.
